The 2020 Valdicava, Rosso di Montalcino, Tuscany was a Merchant's Pick
Mesmerizing Montalcino for fresh tomato and mozzarella!

Is there any better?!
Not when you add the 2020 Valdicava Rosso di Montalcino, a Sangiovese that reminds us that not all Rossos are created equal.
For Rosso di Montalcinos, you may have heard the terms: "Baby Brunello" or "Brunello's Little Brother."
No matter the vernacular, calling this wine a "Baby Brunello" or something other than a Brunello does not do it justice.
From the same estate Sangiovese, all that stands between Valdicava's Brunello and this Rosso di Montalcino is a little less time in oak and bottle before release (the former requiring more time).
Wild cherry, fresh tobacco leaf, wildflower, porcini, sweet spice, floral notes, and strawberry are supported by hearty, balanced tannins. Secondary notes of new saddle leather, eucalyptus, and raspberry showcase the depth of Valdicava's Rosso di Montalcino.
And while most Rossos use the estate's younger vines, Valdicava does not. You will not find a better value Rosso di Montalcino.
Forget that Valdicava is one of the top five Brunello producers in Montalcino. Forget that the grapes are grown biodynamically. These are niceties. With an outstanding 2020 growing season, this Rosso bests most Brunellos in any vintage. Period.

Enjoy!
