Barolo with bottle age! A stunning 2009 library release!
October 01, 2024
As a "Riserva," the 2009 Fabio Oberto Barolo has been carefully cellared by the winery to reach the sweet spot of maturity.
Finally unlocking their vaults and ready for prime time, here is an opportunity to enjoy an incredible Barolo with bottle age from a phenomenal vintage.
"Rare" is an understatement.
Only a handful of cases were among the library release. Few will get a chance to enjoy some! This is truly a "last licks" situation that will not be here tomorrow!
Beautiful ruby red color, the bouquet is voluptuous and lingering. Fresh fruit, hints of dried spice, mountain hay, and autumn leaves reveal the beauty of a well-made Barolo that has been allowed to rest and evolve. Excellent structure will allow the wine to cellar for another five years. The balanced tannins and acidity are wonderfully integrated with the fruit. Silky smooth on the finish. This is what Barolo should taste like when given the opportunity to age!
An addition to your cellar that could but doesn't need to wait.
With already over 15 years of bottle age, the winery has done all the heavy lifting for you.
The stage is set. Enjoy now after a quick decant. But, if you would like to unlock even more character, this wine has easily another decade of aging potential.
Grippy fresh fruit and enticing chewy tannins run alongside all the elements of this fantastic Barolo.
Pair with creamy mushroom risotto braised short ribs, or chicken Milanese.
Cheers!
