Opus One, "Overture" Napa Valley

Opus One's "Overture" beautifully captures the essence of Opus One's flagship Proprietary Red across various vintages.

Each year, wine is held back from the primary bottling of Opus One and blended to make Overture. This new release of Overture is a remarkable blend of two blockbuster Opus One vintages, 2018 and 2019.

To say the wine is limited is an understatement!

Co-owned by Baron Philippe de Rothschild (owner of Chateau Mouton Rothschild and Chateau Clerc Milan) and in the tradition of fine Bordeaux, Overture is the second wine of Opus One.

Both 2018 and 2019 Opus One releases are from extraordinary Napa Valley harvests.  As a point of reference, the 2018 Opus One flagship Proprietary Red received rave reviews with 99-points from James Suckling. Similarly, the 2019 Opus One flagship was awarded 99-points and characterized by the Wine Advocate as "a truly magnificent Opus One in the making."

The classic blackberry and cassis character of Cabernet Sauvignon melds seamlessly with the black cherry, red currant and violet from the Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec.  The blending of wine-lots across vintages and extended barrel aging give Overture a supple structure and silky texture while retaining Opus One's flagship DNA.

This silky, smooth Cabernet blend is specifically crafted to reproduce the terroir of the Opus One estate.

It has!  It is a tremendous value for Opus One fans - or fans of Cabernet Sauvignon in general.
