98 pt Tuscan Gold • "Truly the Montrachet of Italy" • LIMITED
Cervaro is often called the “Batard-Montrachet of Italy.” A bold statement backed by the wine's impressive depth, compression of beautiful fruit, balanced acidity, and gorgeous texture - all hallmarks of Cervaro della Sala by Antinori.
The 2022 Cervaro della Sala is a particularly stunning release of this outstanding Tuscan Chardonnay.
Tignanello may be Antinori's most recognized wine, but Cervaro della Sala may be their most allocated and limited.
"Attractive nose of ripe mangoes, pineapple and grilled lemons with some toasty, nutty notes and hints of smoky minerality. Cardamom and pie crust, too. It’s full-bodied, nervy and juicy, with bright acidity and savory nuances. It’s layered and long and it builds up on the palate, with vibrant, spicy notes of candiedginger, dried lemons and bitter citrus peel. Truly the Montrachet of Italy.Drink or hold." James Suckling
Why We Love Antinori’s Cervaro Year After Year
Considering the constant price increases out of France, Cervaro della Sala is becoming increasingly attractive as a great alternative to many 1er Cru and Grand Cru Burgundies.
The estate's clay soil in Umbria is rich in fossil shells, which gives Cervaro its balance of weight and minerality. A muscular wine, it balances with elegance. The fruit is graceful, with a welcome tremendous vibrancy.
From seafood to rich pasta dishes, you cannot go wrong. Among our suggestions: roasted chicken with scalloped potatoes, risotto, and mushroom ravioli tossed in a sage brown butter sauce.
The list is endless!
Delicious!
