The 2023 Ken Wright Cellars, "Shea Vineyard" Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley was a Merchant's Pick
Shea Pinot Noir • Lucky Row #7
July 22, 2025
This is not just any Pinot Noir from the prized Shea Vineyard - it is block #7, arguably the most coveted block in the Willamette Valley.
With his eye on only the finest fruit, "Block 7 is Ken's favorite block; it is a very important block to us," claimed Asa Sarver, Ken Wright's National & International Sales Manager.
Shea is one of the most iconic Willamette Valley vineyards. Many acclaimed winemakers - including Ken Wright Cellars - have long-term contracts to buy Shea fruit and produce their own "Shea" label. Few if any make a better Shea than Ken Wright Cellars.
Savory, floral and spice focused—notes of raspberry and tart cherry dance with delicious baking spices of cinnamon, cardamom and anise. A beautifully balanced palate has faint chocolate accents - stunning! The wine returns to classic red cherries, pie spices, vibrant pressed roses, and fresh piney herbs. With gorgeous depth and vivacity, it finishes very long and smooth.
How did the exclusive parcel, Row #7, get secured?
Years ago, Ken helped establish Shea Vineyards as a premier site. In return, Ken was able to select the most prized fruit from the vineyard. This exclusive fruit has such character and importance in the Ken Wright bottling that the block number made its way to the label. If you look at the lower left corner of the label, you will notice a red "7" on the lower left post.
Whether it's the magic of Block #7, or the skill at which he crafts his wine, there is no denying that Ken Wright makes amazing Pinot Noir.
Enjoy!
Shea's Block #7 is arguably the most coveted block in the Willamette Valley.
