The 2021 Vina Cobos, Bramare Lujan de Cuyo, Malbec was a Merchant's Pick
Malbec Masterpiece from Paul Hobbs!
March 24, 2021
Barbecue season is here!
There is no better way to kick off grilling season than with the 2018 Vina Cobos Bramare "Lujan de Cuyo" Malbec, a Paul Hobbs classic.
Paul Hobbs may be best known for his namesake (and blockbuster) Napa Cabernet Sauvignons, but Mendoza is where he is making the biggest splash.
This release of Vina Cobos is one of the best Mendoza Malbecs we've enjoyed. The 2018's are being compared to (and arguably besting) the 2013s, an outstanding vintage!
“2018 may turn out to be the greatest vintage in Argentina of my career.” Michel Rolland
What do we love about the 2018 Vina Cobos Bramare Lujan de Cuyo Malbec?
The wine is alluring! An exotic nose of cedar, tobacco, spice box, cola, cassis, and black cherry not only fill the glass but the room as well. Full-bodied and layered, a rustic texture ripples through this stunning Malbec with gobs of complex dark berry fruit, clove, and toasty vanilla accents. With superb depth and length, the wine lingers on the palate for minutes.
Paul Hobbs Malbecs are more reminiscent of a well-bred Cabernet Sauvignon than a jammy, fruit-forward Malbec. With sustainable farming practices, Vina Cobos aims to showcase the purity of fruit and terroir.
Mission accomplished.
With structure and well-delineated tannins, this wine can be enjoyed now and over the next five years.
What do you pair with such a delicacy? Anything you can imagine coming from the grill!
Not grilling yet? Grab a glass and your favorite wedge of cheese.
Enjoy!
