The 2023 Christian Moreau, Chablis, Burgundy was a Merchant's Pick
20 Years And Counting • The Finest Chablis
September 18, 2024
Now in our 20th year of business, one wine has stood the test of time, Christian Moreau Chablis. Over the years, a few producers have come close, but none have replaced Moreau as our core village Chablis.
As the largest holder of Grand Cru vineyards in Chablis, Christian Moreau is an all-year-round favorite of ours for white Burgundies. If there were one word to describe Moreau Chablis, it would be "classic."
And 2023 is no exception!
Moreau's village Chablis drinks more like a Premier Cru Chablis with its primal bouquet, notes of fresh grapefruit, lemon zest, and vibrant minerality. A creamy texture is offset by the wine's clean, dry, and sleek frame accented by sea shell notes and chalky finish. This is classic Chablis!
Why is Moreau's Chablis so sought after?
As the largest holder of Grand Cru Chardonnay in Chablis, the surrounding area is rich in clay and fossilized shells. The wine is a chameleon. You can dress it up with a rich piece of fish, like grilled salmon, or dress it down with a crisp salad.
No wonder Wine Spectator has singled out Domaine Christian Moreau as "one of the best sources of Chablis in the region."
Don't be afraid to enjoy these wines on the warmer side of cold, as great whites showcase well when served slightly warmer.
We've been doing so for 20 years!
Enjoy this classic all year long!
