The 2022 Domaine Clos de La Chapelle Meursault Les Vignes Blances was a Merchant's Pick
Meursault Masterpiece is textbook Meursault!
August 01, 2024
Clos de la Chapelle single-handily epitomizes the elegance and complexity of Burgundy's finest. The Domaine produces old-school, classic Meursault and the best example of the region we can recall from recent vintages.
In a typical vintage, Clos de la Chapelle's wines are dolled out in bottles, with each bottle referenced on the label. 2022, with its bountiful harvest, had a better-than-typical yield, and why we can offer it this year.
Les Vignes Blanche, a tiny 0.4 hectare plot characterized by its gravelly white limestone soil, imparts a distinct minerality and tension to the wine. This unique terroir is nestled beneath a rocky hill and offers a complex bouquet, blending notes of white fruits, peach, and pear. Hawthorn, brioche, and mineral undertones. The wine opens with a crisp attack, followed by a full and silky mid-palate, culminating in a persistent mineral finish.
Beautifully textured and layered, the wine is unfiltered, which preserves the finer aromas and imparts a lovely texture.
Perfect for accompanying gourmet meals or simply savoring on its own. It is a true representation of Domaine Clos de la Chapelle's expertise and the extraordinary Les Vignes Blances terroir.
While delightful to enjoy now, this wine can also be cellared for several decades. Burgundy has struggled in recent vintages. If you are going to buy white Burgundy in the next ten years, this is the one to buy!
Due to its extremely limited supply, only a handful of six-packs are available. Very few readers will get to enjoy this wine.
Make sure you are one of them!
Enjoy!
