The 2023 Bruno Giacosa, Roero Arneis, Piedmont was a Merchant's Pick

SOOOOO GOOD • The FIRST wine I look for on a restaurant wine list!

Bruno Giacosa wines are world-class. Their Barolo and Barbaresco are found in every collector's cellar.  If you've never enjoyed Giacosa's Roero Arneis, an exceptional Piedmont white, you are missing out!

Giacosa Reoro Arneis is a food-pairing darling.  From grilled branzino to fresh capellini tossed in garlic and olive oil, few Italian whites offer such versatility.

It is so good and user-friendly, it is the first wine I look for on a wine list when at a restaurant.

The purity and depth of the fruit echo with every sip.  The wine is vibrant and fresh while still retaining its depth and dimension. Green papaya, lemon, pear, lime accents, and green-apple notes lead to crisp acidity.   From fish to light pasta dishes to warm bread dipped in olive oil, you cannot go wrong.

Don't over-chill this little treasure, as you'll "chill out" the subtle nuances. Let it sit for about 10-15 minutes before serving to allow the refreshing acidity and authentic flavors to express themselves.

Arneis, a white grape from Piedmont, translates to "difficult or stubborn" and was given this name due to its delicate skin and unpredictable nature.

When the conditions are right, like 2023, few Italian whites can challenge Giacosa Arneis.

Enjoy!

The First White Wine I Look For On A Restaurant Wine List

“This white wine is always a great value buy.”

Wine Advocate

"The Bruno Giacosa 2023 Roero Arneis will be a smaller release due to fruit that was damaged during a hailstorm the first week of July. Nonetheless, this wine remains salty, mineral-driven and bright with citrus and white peach. It is executed in stainless steel only. Perhaps this vintage is a little thinner in terms of mouthfeel, but it draws to a close with lingering acidity. Bruna Giacosa recommends giving it a little oxygen before you drink it. This white wine is always a great value buy. "

“Medium- to full-bodied with lots of fruit.”

James Suckling

"A fresh and crunchy white with light lemons, mangoes and bitter limes. It’s medium- to full-bodied with lots of fruit. The hot growing season comes through, but it remains fresh at the end."

“So good now while it's fresh, there’s no need to wait.”

Jeb Dunnuck

"The 2023 Roero Arneis is a bright silver/yellow color, and the nose is fresh and savory, with notes of white peaches, melon rind, lemon oils, and light savory chive notes. Perfectly suited for pairing alongside crudo and vitello tonnato, this medium-bodied white is refreshing and spritely, with a touch of white pepper and a kiss of sweet fruit. It can be enjoyed over the next few years, but it’s so good now while it's fresh, there’s no need to wait."
