The 2022 RouteStock, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley was a Merchant's Pick
Napa Valley NO-BRAINER to buy by the case!
August 26, 2024
You're telling me there is a Napa Cabernet under $50, which is varietally correct, is layered and nuanced, and is a pleasure to drink?
Oh, and it has gorgeous sweet tannins to boot?
Unheard of!
That's what we thought until we recently tasted the 2022 RouteStock Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
Routestock is a Napa Valley best value. It doesn't get much better for the money. If you could only enjoy one Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa under $40, Routestock Cabernet should be on your shortlist.
“Seductive notes of black cherry, cassis, cocoa, and dusty plum hit you on entry. It is wonderfully full on the palate with additional notes of black plum, dark chocolate, and savory hints of bay leaf, which throws off pine and cedar. There is a richness to the wine that you rarely - if ever - see at this price point. It is not jammy or extracted. The acidity is balanced. The dusty tannins give you an additional sense of depth along with bright acidity and a hint of oak (very faint). The finish is long, and the wine seems to linger on the palate for minutes.”
We can't recommend RouteStock Cabernet enough. It is more than a house pour. It is more than a Tuesday night sipper.
It is a fantastic wine option for grilling this spring and summer. It can stand up to your favorite burger recipe or favorite cut of meat. It is balanced enough to pair with rotisserie chicken and user-friendly enough to enjoy with just a wedge of cheese.
A Bordeaux blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon (92%), the balance is Merlot, Malbec, and Petit Verdot; it over-delivers in quality at a compelling price.
What a value!
This wine will be among my everyday reds this spring and summer (and winter).
Buy by the case(s) and enjoy over the next five years.
