The 2022 Arista, Ritchie Vineyard Chardonnay Russian River Valley was a Merchant's Pick

Arista • Rare & Limited!

April 03, 2025

There are a handful of excellent California Chardonnays, but none like Ritchie Vineyard.  Ritchie Vineyard is a legendary slope in the heart of the Russian River Valley.

Ritchie Chardonnay is the highest and oldest block in the vineyard.  Not to mention, Ritchie is one of the oldest Chardonnay plantings in the Russian River Valley.

The site is known for its procession of gorgeous high-toned fruit, vibrant acidity, and intensity.

We are fortunate enough to feature Arista's Ritchie Chardonnay this year due to the exceptional and bountiful 2022 vintage.  Otherwise, Ritchie is sold in bottles here and there at best.

Extremely focused and energetic nose of sliced limes and Meyer lemons with lemongrass. Stone and hints of flint lead to a full-bodied Chardonnay with superb density and structure and phenolics that you can feel. It goes on for minutes. Slightly chewy at the end.

Grand Cru quality.  Tiny berries.  Old Vines.  Low yields.  Collectible!

A wine of this caliber from Chassagne-Montrachet would cost hundreds of dollars.

This experiential Russian River white is unrivaled and a guaranteed sell-out.

We've set aside several bottles for our own personal enjoyment.

We encourage you to do the same, as it is a must-have!

Enjoy!

Rare Opportunity For All Kistler And Pahlmeyer Chardonnay Fans!

“Highly coveted for its low yields and ability to produce an intensely flavored and aromatic wine.”

Winemaker Notes

"Unique geological characteristics influence the “terroir” of the Ritchie Vineyard. The vineyard’s proximity to the Pacific Ocean exposes it to the cool effect of the coastal fog, yet at the same time, the site’s location allows for ample sunlight once the fog has burned off around noon. The well-drained, sandy Goldridge Soils are ideal for growing Chardonnay. Finally, the vineyard is planted to, predominately, the Old Wente Selection of Chardonnay, which is highly coveted for its low yields and ability to produce an intensely flavored and aromatic wine."
