Not just any rosé... Bandol rosé!
July 14, 2020
Chateau de Pibarnon reminds us that there are rosés, and then there are Bandol rosés!
Bandol is the pride of Provence; the rosés from this region are a cut above the rest.
Often referred to as the "Petrus of Bandol," Chateau de Pibarnon's vineyards are built on centuries-old terraces hand-built by generations. The clay and fossil-studded soils are similar those found at Chateau d'Yquem in Sauternes and Chateau Petrus in Pomerol.
"Shimmering orange-pink. Powerful, mineral-accented white peach, raspberry and melon scents, along with building citrus pith and floral nuances. Palate-staining red berry, blood orange, nectarine and lavender flavors deftly meld depth and energy. Shows strong tension and repeating mineral character on the strikingly long finish, which leaves a suave floral note behind." Vinous
What We Love About This Wine
This wine has real pizzazz!
Pink grapefruits notes are followed by a touch of spice. The Mourvedre gives this wine its complexity. White peach, pomegranate and zesty acidity are characteristics of the Cinsault grape.
Beautifully balanced, Pibarnon is a pairing rosé - one that begs to be enjoyed with cheese, seafood - especially sushi - and charcuterie.
It is so good, we have it in half bottles (375mls), here.
By the way, this wine ages beautifully too. Stash a few bottles away for Thanksgiving; with so many layers, it is also a sensational holiday wine.
Enjoy!
