BURGUNDY MUST READ!

April 11, 2024

Leroy is among the finest Burgundy producers, rivaling DRC.  Maison Leroy's Bourgogne Rouge now sells for $300 per bottle.  IT IS FANTASTIC!

Recently, Maison Leroy and Domaine Delagrange ended their long-standing purchasing agreement, which allowed Maison Leroy to source Pinot Noir from Domaine Delagrange's Volnay vineyards.

Now that the agreement has ended, Domaine Delagrange is bottling their 50-year-old vines in this inaugural release, the 2022 Domaine Delegrange Bourgogne Cote d'Or.

Delagrange's Pinot Noir is classic Volnay.  Robust and well structured, it has ripe hedonistic fruit. Its nose has a welcoming aroma of stewed red fruits, fresh cherries, rose petals, and mushrooms.  On the palate, the silky, velvety texture rounds out the experience with lasting fruit. You will swoon over this wine as it dances along your taste buds and has you coming back glass after glass. Delicious!
Prestige For A Fraction Of The Price

Burgundy's Cote d'Or is home to Volnay, Pommard, and other prestigious wine regions.  Cote d'Or designation on a bottle indicates that fruit was not sourced just anywhere in Burgundy (such as wines that say "Bourgogne").

Cote d'Or Burgundies are known for their soaring, earthy flavors, often laced with minerals, exotic spices, licorice, and truffles.

If you have not enjoyed red Burgundies from the Cote d'Or, you are missing something special.

Domaine Delagrange is a 7th-generation producer with exacting standards. Their primary Volnay vines are 100 years old. These fifty-year-old vines (old by most producers' standards) are not quite old enough to make it to Delagrange's "Volnay" bottling.

After the first glass of one of their Pinot Noir, you will instantly become a Delagrange fanatic forever.

The culinary possibilities are unlimited: beef Bourgogne, braised short ribs, ratatouille, roasted herb chicken, truffle fries, or even a homemade savory galette!

We wouldn't be surprised if another A-list producer seizes this Volnay opportunity!

Enjoy!
