The 2023 Gerard Boulay, "Chavignol" Sancerre, Loire was a Merchant's Pick
Once A Year Release • Among Sancerre's Finest!
October 02, 2024
Every Spring and with much anticipation, the wines of Gerard Boulay arrive. And, then they go as quickly as they came.
Often compared to the Grand Cru vineyards of Burgundy for its limestone-based soil, Chavignol is a field of chalky-white stone that produces refined and immensely complex whites.
Perched on the northern tip of Sancerre's limestone slopes of Chavignol is the finest Sauvignon Blanc growing subregion in the world.
Replete with freshness and bright citrus minerality, Boulay's Sancerre displays classic gooseberry and lime zest aromas, which mingle with notes of minty herb, stone, almond and white flowers. It has a solid core of grapefruit, mandarin orange, lime, and wildflowers. It is one of the best Sancerres being made today!
Perched on the northern tip of Sancerre are the white limestone slopes of Chavignol, the finest Sauvignon Blanc growing region in the world.
Irresistible now, a mineral-infused core will allow you to enjoy it over the next five years!
Arugula salad, roasted peppers, goat cheese, and a glass of the 2023 Boulay Sancerre may very well be the best meal of the summer!
Only a few producers make a Chavignol Sancerre - and Boulay is at the top of that shortlist.
We only get one shot at this wine each year - and this is it!
Enjoy!
