The 2023 Pierre Martin, "Les Culs de Beaujeu" Chavignol Sancerre was a Merchant's Pick
One Hectare of Oustanding Sauvignon Blanc
The exclusive three-acre parcel known as "Les Culs de Beaujeu" is Martin's second exclusive property in Chavignol, Sancerre known for its broader style and more textural than Martin's Les Monts Damnes.
Both are steep sloped vineayrds, where the chalky white soils of Chavignol produce Sauvignon Blanc like nowhere else in the world.
Classic gooseberry and lime zest aromas mingled with notes of minty herb, stone, almond and white flowers. On the palate the wine is pure with a solid core of grapefruit, mandarin orange, lime and wildflowers. But, what really sets it apart, is its mineral-infused personality.
Enjoy this sumptuous Sauvignon Blanc with your favorite seafood dish, especially oysters - either raw or broiled with garlic and breadcrumbs.
Enjoy!
If Sancerre (like Burgundy) had Grand Cru vineyard designations, Les Monts Damnes would be one of the few.
