The 2023 Quintodecimo Fiano di Avellino Exultet Campania was a Merchant's Pick
Enchanting Italian White from Campania!
February 10, 2025
Quintodecimo is a cult Italian producer located in the heart of the Avellino hills of Campania. The winery is best known for its highly sought-after Aglianico red, which is only released once a year in small quantities.
Truth be told, we weren't that familiar with their Exultet. When several customers begged us to get the wine, we had to try it ourselves.
We did, and are glad we did.
This wine is enchanting!
With the aging potential of a Puligny Montrachet and the distinct fruit and finesse of an Italian Timorasso, Exultet contains three essential elements: power, minerality, and complexity!
"The 2023 Exultet is stunning, savory and remarkably pure. An array of Asian pear, ground ginger, dusty dried flowers and wet stone form its inviting bouquet. This is soft-textured with a balancing tinge of minerals and spice. Crisp orchard fruits cascade across the palate. It finished with staining length and tension as nuances of young peach and minty herbs fade gradually. Just a baby today, the 2023 is positioned for a long and lovely maturation." Vinous
This wine could be compared to some of the most premium and luxurious white wines. The mysterious Fiano is eager to be met with a wide variety of food pairings: the obvious seafood, especially calamari and shellfish, as well as mozzarella di bufala, risotto with truffles, and richer cream dishes.
This remarkable wine will can be enjoyed now and over the next decade.
You may find it at your favorite Italian steak, which would charge north of $125/bottle or more for this pour.
Cheers!
