The 2018 Dal Forno Romano, Valpolicella Superiore was a Merchant's Pick
Dal Forno's Baby Amarone • So good it will make your toes curl!
November 08, 2023
Open a bottle of Dal Forno Romano Valpolicella, and your room will fill with intoxicating aromas.
An absolute joy to drink, the 2087 Dal Forno boasts a kaleidoscope of dark berry, cedar, leather, tobacco leaf, clove, and fig took over the palate.
The only difference between this wine and Dal Forno's flagship Amarone (which fetches $400) is that this Valpolicella Superiore sees 45 days appassimento (grape drying) versus 90 for the flagship red.
This Veneto red is so good, it will make your toes curl!
“A gorgeous nose of rosemary, leather, cocoa powder and milled pepper is a fragrant thread winding through this rich red. Dense, fine-grained tannins support flavors of baked black cherry and blackberry paste, loamy earth, graphite and Earl Grey tea leaf. Long and plush, with the detailed profile echoing on the finish.” Wine Spectator
We love Dal Forno's Valpolicella for its versatility. This wine is exquisitely crafted and balanced. It has structure for aging yet is gorgeously approachable and graceful despite its heft. We highly recommend enjoying some now, even though it can be cellar for another 15 years.
Pair with pungent cheeses or your favorite cut of grilled meat - it will make your filet sing and dance! Even a spicy diavolo sauce pairs ideally with this luscious red.
Enjoy!
