The 2020 Arnot Roberts Sauvignon Blanc "Randle Hill" Yorkville Highlands was a Merchant's Pick
Think Sancerre, But Better!
March 16, 2022
Grab this white while you can.
Do you love the lemon-lime notes of Sauvignon Blanc? Do you yearn for the lift and vibrancy of a well-made Sancerre?
Do you eat a lot of seafood and salads?
Then grab the 2020 Arnot Roberts "Randle Hill Vineyard" Sauvignon Blanc, an inaugural release with a mere 100 cases produced.
There's something ethereal on the nose. The palate boasts lemon zest, orchard fruit, chalky minerality, a hint of saline, and a touch of dried garden herbs. Well-integrated lemon-lime presents with a graceful, elegant vein of lift and acidity throughout the entire experience.
French driven in style, Arnot Roberts is producing a classic Loire Valley-esque white in the Yorkville Highlands AVA of California, where it is farmed organically.
Generally known for terroir-driven offerings, his Pinot Noir and Chardonnays are doppelgangers for Burgundy. And this wine, his Sauvignon Blanc, could easily be mistaken for the Sancerre's most coveted regions, often described as Grand Cru. (Think Chavignol).
Grab your favorite filet of fish (or salad) and enjoy!
