The 2023 Domaines Ott, "Clos Mireille" Rosé Provence was a Merchant's Pick
The King of rosé - Domaines Ott by the sea!
March 21, 2023
Domaines Ott is one of the most iconic rosés and needs no introduction - except maybe for their exclusive vineyard by the sea, "Clos Mireille."
Ott rosés are timeless and synonymous with Provence. The mere mention of the wine conjures up imagery of the Mediterranean. The iconic hourglass-shaped bottles can be spotted far across a room.
"Clos Mireille" is one of their treasured estates in Provence. The microclimate and vineyard's proximity to the sea imparts stunning salinity into the fruit, unlike any of their other estates. It is refreshing and screams "springtime" in your glass.
Clos Mireille’s 124 acres of vines are planted in schist and clay soils within view of the sea. This wine is reticent at first, though a magnetic hint of salted cherry paste suggests what’s to come. With a day of air, pithy grapefruit flavors and cinnamon spice come out to play, sliding into sea-salt and floral notes in the finish. Complex, intensely flavorful and still restrained, this has mouthwatering tannins that last without encumbering the wine." Wines & Spirits Magazine
Push those wintery meal cookbooks to the back of the shelf and start thinking about springtime fare.
Clos Mireille is a delicious blend of Grenache, Cinsault, and Syrah. The Grenache is selected for its full-bodied texture, the Cinsault for its softness and acidity, and the Syrah imparts silky roundness.
Enjoy with food or on its own. "It's a terrific rosé for drinking this summer (or anytime)." The Wine Advocate
