Some Barolo are built for aging; others are built for early enjoyment. Few offer both at the same time. Add quality and an everyday price point, and you have one heck of a Barolo value.

This blissful Barolo showcases the beauty of the 2021 Piedmont vintage. The consistency coming out of the G.D. Vajra winery is worth noting. In 2020, Vajra's Albe Barolo was Wine Spectator's #9 Wine Of The Year.
"The 2021 Barolo Albe continues to be one of the best values the region has to offer and punches far above its weight class in this vintage. The nose is ripe with fresh, layered notes of pure red cherries, fresh flowers, anise, and refined spices. The palate is fantastic and pure, with a long finish. This is one of the best vintages of this wine I have tasted to date, revealing great definition of structure and a refreshing feel that makes this a fantastic go-to option to check in on again and again as it ages. I would snap these up and get a case or two if you can." Jeb Dunnuck
We love the cool cedar and menthol notes, which remain on the palate for minutes. The wine is silky and velvety and drinks like a rustic Pinot Noir.
In fact, Nebbiolo, the grape of Barolo is often compared to Pinot Noir for its cherry notes and balanced acidity. Ready to enjoy now and also built for aging, Vajra's Albe Barolo is a wonderful alternative to Pinot Noir if you, like we, love the rustic Piedmont charm that accompanies a well-made Barolo.
Wonderfully versatile, feel free to enjoy with grilled salmon, wild mushroom risotto, grilled steak, salads, stews, and hard cheeses.
Enjoy!
