Les Monts Damnes Mystique!

March 13, 2024

The exclusive three-acre parcel known as "Les Monts Damnes" yields the most expressive Sauvignon Blanc in the wine world.

A short-list of world class Sancerre producers (Boulay @ $75 and Francois Cotat at $120) produce a Les Monts Damnes Sancerrre.  Pierre Martin is on that shortlist.

Les Monts Damnes translates to "the cursed mountains."  These treacherous and steeply sloped vineyards can only be hand-harvested.  As difficult as they are to access, these prized grapes are meticulously tended to making them the finest expression of the region.

The chalky white soils of Chavignol produce Sauvignon Blanc like nowhere else in the world.  Classic gooseberry and lime zest aromas mingled with notes of minty herb, stone, almond and white flowers. On the palate the wine is pure with a solid core of grapefruit, mandarin orange, lime and wildflowers. But, what really sets it apart, is its mineral-infused personality.

Drinking Pierre Martin's Les Monts Damnes Sancerre is like being hit with a refreshing summer breeze.

Enjoy this sumptuous Sauvignon Blanc with your favorite seafood dish, especially oysters - either raw or broiled with garlic and breadcrumbs.

Enjoy!

If Sancerre (like Burgundy) had Grand Cru vineyard designations, Les Monts Damnes would be one of the few.
