The 2023 Raul Perez, Atalier a Crus das Animas was a Merchant's Pick
Amazing Albarino for seafood and more!
June 24, 2022
Atalier Albarino hails from Rias Baixas, a small fishing village in the northwest corner of Spain; it is one of the best quality Albarinos on the market!
The maritime influence of the Atlantic permeates the terroir and translates beautifully in this sensational Spanish white.
Atalier is not your typical Albarino. The wine jumps from the glass with regional notes of saline, seashells, and minerality. The wine is pure and refreshing and a pleasure to enjoy on its own or with food.
Stone fruit and minerals underpin crisp, clean acidity. Atalier has a Chablisienne quality with excellent grip and persistence. White flower aromatics, along with citrus orchard fruit, fill the room. Lime, pear, and a dash of kiwi on the palate add complexity to the salinity.
"Electrifying, with a turbo-charge of bracing salty-citrus acidity leavened by the depth of mouth-filling yellow plum. Galician Chablis." Decanter
What food pairings for this beauty? Great question!
We highly recommend the 2020 Atalier with any of the following: paella, crab cakes, oysters, Mediterranean salads, and grilled shrimp (with a squeeze of lime).
Even better - homemade grilled shrimp quesadillas!
Of course, feel free to pair it with any of your favorites...
Enjoy!
