The 2022 Roagna Langhe Bianco was a Merchant's Pick
Grab what you can! Ultimo Bianco! Highly sought after, seldom available!
September 04, 2024
Few Piedmont producers rival Luca Roagna. He is often mentioned in the same sentence as Giuseppe Rinaldi, Bruno Giacosa, Giacomo Conterno, and Giovanni Gaja.
While his reds are some of the most coveted in all of Piedmont, readers should grab what they can of his fantastic Bianco from Langhe.
Only 200 cases are imported of this stunning Italian white that is predominantly Chardonnay (90%) with the balance Nebbiolo (the Nebbiolo is vinified with the skins off so as not to impart red hues into the wine).
Pear, apple, spice, mint, crushed stone, marzipan, flowers, and chamomile all caress the palate as this exquisite white shows off its engaging personality. The silky finish is wonderfully inviting. This gorgeous Chardonnay resembles a white Burgundy. The modest Nebbiolo contribution accents the wine and offers fantastic structure, and anchors the classic Chardonnay fruit notes.
Like Roagna's highly sought-after Langhe Rosso, sommeliers scramble to add this magnificent white to their wine lists when it is available. They know the quality and pedigree.
This is a truffle-season and risotto essential. It's a welcome companion to any gourmet dining experience. Drink alongside your favorite fall dishes and taste flavors that are exotic and distinctly Piedmontese.
You can cellar Roagna's Langhe Bianco for up to 7 years. However, you will be hard-pressed not to enjoy it now as it is absolutely sensational!
Enjoy!
