97 point TEXTBOOK Cabernet

July 21, 2025

Today's feature is a textbook Cabernet in every sense!  Running alongside the Napa Valley River is the Yountville Ranch Vineyard, the source of this stunning Napa Cabernet made by Textbook Vineyards.  And what a value!

Yountville is a small but prestigious appellation situated in the heart of Napa Valley. With its benchland terroir akin to Rutherford and Oakville, the wine showcases similar intensity, layered complexity, and finely knit tannins, uniquely elegant, shaped by the cooler climate.

"Yountville Ranch's well-drained, gravelly loam soils allow the roots to dive deep, as exhibited by the wine's structured tannins. Lucious notes of crushed Morello cherry, red beet, and dark chocolate saturate the palate. The silky, creamy mouthfeel is almost hedonistic, yet it's reined in by a spark of black pepper, anise, and cedar. In terms of aging potential, this wine is destined for greatness." Tasting Panel

Yountville Ranch is Textbook's inaugural release and among their flagship cuvees.

For fans of grilled cuisine, this wine offers a silky, smooth drinking experience that pairs perfectly with a juicy steak.

Feel free to dabble in some ribs.

It will stand tall on its own or with a wedge of cheese.

Enjoy!
