The 2021 Vinedos del Jorco El Jorco Cebreros Spain was a Merchant's Pick
Sip & Savor Spain's Glorious Grenache
September 22, 2023
In the hillsides outside of Madrid, you will find some of Spain’s oldest Grenache vines along with Spain's newest appellation, Cebreros.
The so-called “Garnacha Belt” west of Madrid is one of the most exciting and unique viticultural areas of Spain, showcasing the Pinot Noir-like side of Grenache.
Viñedos del Jorco, spearheaded by Spain’s hottest young winemaker, Raul Perez, crafts this gorgeous Grenache using organic and biodynamic farming.
Not to be missed, only 50 cases of this Spanish splendor were imported.
”This is my favorite wine of theirs. [The] wine comes through as elegant; it's pale and aromatic, perfumed, fine-boned, nicely textured, very tasty, clean, precise and focused but with clout and tannins.” Wine Advocate
With vines dating back to 1915, the vineyards are all farmed without herbicides and pesticides and according to the lunar cycles - in part following concepts of biodynamics.
Raul makes these wines with his great touch, producing fresh, light, low alcohol wines with great finesse while retaining the balance and intensity of fruit.
With a mere 250 cases produced yearly, and only 50 of those exported to the United States, to say that this wine is a rare find would be an understatement!
Do not miss this once-a-year opportunity!
While supplies last.
Enjoy!
