Word of the day:  Garganega (Italian: [ɡarˈɡaːneɡa] is the white grape indigenous to the Soave region.  These grapes are grown right outside Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet's picturesque home of Verona.

Soave sales experienced a peak in popularity in the United States during the mid-20th century and were part of the Italian wine boom of the 70s and 80s. 

Today, well-made Soave, like Brigaldara, is no longer a simple quaffing white; it is the little golden secret of the Veneto that should be among your white wine staples.
