The 2018 Chateau du Moulin-a-Vent, Moulin-a-Vent, Beaujolais was a Merchant's Pick
Cru Beaujolais Takes Our Breath Away!
August 10, 2021
Cru Beaujolais are some of the unsung heroes of Burgundy. Their structure, acidity, minerality and spice offer value like no other.
Moulin-A-Vent is one of the most iconic crus within Beaujolais. A famous fifteenth century windmill marks this area and happens to bisect the vineyards of Chateau du Moulin-a-Vent "Moulin-a-Vent."
This fruit is the envy of the region. The terroir is exclusive: Granite bedrock and sandy, clay-rich soil gives Chateau du Moulin-a-Vent its unique character.
Perfectly mature red and black fruits. Hints of spice and floral notes, in particular rose and violets. Fresh and energetic, this wine has tons of mineral power, crushed rock, and great balance on the sleek, long finish. Wild, sour strawberries give the wine lift and leads to the super fine tannins.
We cannot get enough of this gorgeous Gamay!
While most red Burgundies are made from Pinot Noir, red Beaujolais are made from Gamay. A well-made Beaujolais - like this one - resembles Pinot Noir. It is sophisticated, juicy and downright delicious!
Enjoy this Gamay all year round with veal, grilled meats, duck, chicken and hearty salads.
Remember, this is not just any Beaujolais, it is one of the finest cru Beaujolais!
Enjoy at cellar temperature.
Cheers!
