The 2019 Caprili Brunello di Montalcino was a Merchant's Pick
Location! Location! BRUNELLO location!
June 17, 2024
The Caprili Estate in the southwestern sector of the Montalcino appellation is near the hamlet of Travernelle.
Caprili is considered one of Montalcino's old guards. It was established in 1965 when it split off from the famous Pieve Santa Restituta estate, which is now owned by Gaja.
Talk about location. Not only is Caprili spun off of Pieve Santa Restituta, but it is adjacent to one of Tuscany's most collectible Tuscan red estates, Soldera.
It's no wonder that Caprili has earned its place among Wine Spectator's Editor's Choice. But what's truly intriguing is how this Brunello, despite its quality, remains a hidden gem, quietly waiting to be discovered.
This red is all about finesse, delivering superb balance and complexity with cherry, raspberry, earth, and wild herb aromas and flavors. Succulent and charming, yet with a base of tannins and vivid acidity, this remains focused through the long aftertaste." Wine Spectator
Caprili boasts classic Montalcino aromas and an underpinning of minerality alongside dusty dried cherries, with a kiss of leather and spice. It showcases the finest attributes from "the vintage we've all been waiting for." Vinous
Caprili, a wine born from coveted terroir and pedigree, offers a quality that doesn't come with the typical Brunello price tag. While it may not stay under the radar for long, if you're after a Brunello that delivers the true essence of the iconic 2019 vintage without breaking the bank, look no further.
An amazing Brunello value.
Cheers!
